Charge :

 

Sri Maguni Charan Barik, District Small Savings Officer is in charge of District Sports Officer since 2001 (except November-2003 to August-2004 when Sri Akhil Bihari Das was posted as D.S.O., Deogarh and subsequently he was transferred as D.S.O.-cum-Hostel in Charge at Keonjhar). No Clerical or Peon Staff has been attached to this office. Following sports activities have been taken up during the year of 2004-05 and 2005-06.

Sports Infrastructures in the District :

           

There is only 01(one) Stadium, i.e.-Indira Gandhi Stadium, Deogarh in this district having no gallery system or administrative building.The estimated amount of the said stadium was Rs.37 Lakhs out of which Rs.27 lakhs has been utilised for the construction of boundary wall, player’s refreshment rooms and 4 nos. of Ticket Booking Counters. The Executive Engineer (R. & B.), Deogarh has also submitted the Utilisation Certificate to the Director of Sports & Youth Services, Orissa.

Youth Services Programme in the District :

 

(i)         30 youths (Male & Female) have participated in the State Youth Festival held at Kandhamal from 28.12.2003 to 30.12.2003 in which Deogarh District has secured 3rd position in Folk Song Event.

 

(ii)        32 Youths (Male & Female) have participated in the State Youth Festival held at Balasore in which Deogarh District has secured 6th position in One Act Play.

 

(iii)               2 Youths Sri Rajkishore Pradhan & Ku. Sanjukta Suna have represented Orissa to participate in the Inter-State Youth Exchange held at Kerala in which Deogarh District has secured best remarks from the Directorate of Sports & Youth Services.
