Aims and objectives
The main functions are to hold General Elections/ Bye-elections to Parliament and the State Legislative Assembly, Preparation of Electoral Roll and Preparation/ Issue of Electors’ Photo Identity Cards.
Special Summary Revision
During Summary revision of Electoral Rolls which takes place every year, the existing electoral rolls are published at each polling booth locations to invite claims and objections for inclusion, deletion, correction and transposition. After due enquiry all the claims and objections are decided and a supplementary electoral roll is prepared and published.
Continuous updation of Electoral Roll
Even after the final publication of Electoral Rolls the process of continuous updation of Electoral Rolls goes on and the citizens are free to file any application with the Electoral Registration Officer for addition, deletion, modification and transposition.
Awareness campaign under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP)
For wide publicity of Electoral process, different type of activities likes Voter Rally, Mike announcement, conducting of debate, easy writing, slogan writing, painting, Quiz and Rongoly, opening of Voter Sahayata Kendra, demonstration of EVMs functioning, observance of National Voters Day are being organised by the Office.
Interactive School Engagement Programme
To sensitise the future Voter (age groups of 15-17), the Interactive School Engagement programme are being organised by this Office at the School and College level.
Cascaded Training Programme
Different type of Training programme are being conducted by this office as per the instruction of CEO, Odisha.
Preparation of Electoral Roll and generation/ issue of Electors’ Photo Identity Cards (EPICs)
This Office supervise the preparation of Electoral Roll and generation/ issue of Electors’ Photo Identity Cards (EPICs).
Management of EVMs
All type of the EVMs management conduct by this office.
